dr brassingtonDr. Brassington was born in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of a naval officer. He graduated from James W. Robinson High School in Fairfax, Va., and received a bachelor of science degree in Microbiology with honors from the Pennsylvania State University in 1983. While at Penn State, Dr. Brassington contributed to several research projects in the field of Immunology. After completing the residency and becoming a member of the American Association of Hospital Dentists, Dr. Brassington went on to private practice in general dentistry in Fairfax, Virginia. He practiced general dentistry for four years, an experience he feels has made him a much better orthodontist. He returned to the Medical College of Virginia for his orthodontic specialty training, and received his certificate in the specialty of orthodontics in 1994. Upon graduating, he joined Dr. Riley and Dr. Wiltshire, and has been with our practice for 14 years. While in private practice, he continued his relationship with MCV by serving as part-time clinical faculty in the Department of Orthodontics.

Dr. Brassington and his wife, Lynn, were college sweethearts, and have three children, Kathryn, Lauren, and Matthew. Their family is active in sports, particularly basketball, and Dr. B has logged in more than 15 seasons of coaching. In addition to coaching youth sports, Dr. B enjoys tennis, music, and the occasional round of golf.
